Jammu and Kashmir: BSF personnel killed in Pakistan firing along IB in Kathua

A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel killed on Tuesday when Pakistan troops fired and shelled along the International Border (IB) and the LoC in Kathua and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

BSF personnel identified as Vinay Prasad was succumbed to his injuries.

According to the reports, he was hit by a sniper shot in the morning in a firing from across the border in Hiranagar sector, Kathua.

Prasad was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Pakistan also violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani sector.

“The Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation using small arms and shelling with heavy calibre weapons in the Sunderbani sector,” an official said.

The Indian Army troops retaliated effectively and strongly, he said, adding that the exchanges of fire were on.
