State secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar were shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar on Thursday evening.
Anil and his brother Ajit were returning from their shop in Kishtwar at around 8 pm when they were fired upon from close range near their house.
They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.
A curfew has been ordered as tension gripped Kishtwar after the killings. Restrictions are also being enforced in some other towns of Jammu.
Condemning the killings, BJP president Amit Shah said, “Just got the tragic news of killing of Shri Anil Parihar, Secretary, BJP Jammu and Kashmir, and his brother by terrorists in Kishtwar. This is a cowardly act that shames humanity. I grieve the death of my valued colleague and pray that God gives his family strength to bear this untimely loss.”
