Iranian military commander killed in airstrike at Baghdad airport

General Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force was killed, following an airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport early Friday, the officials said.

The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of Iraq’s Hashed al-Shaabi military force, the officials added.

The Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) blamed the United States for an attack at Baghdad Airport.

Security sources said the rockets destroyed two vehicles carrying high profile guests, who had arrived at the airport.

A security official confirmed that eight people including important figures were killed in the attack on an airport, describing it as an airstrike. 

The deaths are a major turning point in Iraq and the entire Middle East, sources said.
