India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 4,40,215, Death toll at 14,011

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 4,40,215 as it recorded 14,933 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 14,011 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

There are 1,78,014 active cases while 2,48,189 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,35,796 with 6,283 fatalities.

Delhi has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 62,655 with 2,233 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu – 62,087 cases and 794 deaths, Gujarat – 27,825 cases and 1,684 fatalities.

A total of 71,37,716 samples have been tested so far of which 1,87,223 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
