India is likely to have a normal monsoon this year, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday in its forecast for the four-month monsoon season in the country.
During a press briefing, Madhavan Rajeevan, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) said, “This year we will have a normal monsoon. Quantitatively the monsoon rainfall, during the monsoon season 2020, is expected to be 100% of its long period average with an error of +5 or -5% due to model error.”
“This year monsoon will be normal,” the IMD said.
The date for the onset of monsoon in Kerala, which is June 1, will remain the same.
