The Supreme Court on Monday smacked the government over vacancies in tribunal. Chief Justice NV Ramana said “we feel the government has no respect for this court” and warned “you are testing our patience”.
“We don’t want to have a confrontation with the government,” the Chief Justice said, as he reminded the government of the “speedy approvals and appointments for Supreme Court judges”.
The court issued a notice to the government, giving it a week to make the necessary appointments.
CJI asked.”… but why are tribunal vacancies not being filled?”
The notice was issued on a plea by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.
