Former Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu was on Saturday sworn in as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
“At a ceremony held today (August 8, 2020) at 1030 hrs in the Ashoka Hall, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Shri Girish Chandra Murmu was sworn in as the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India. He made and subscribed to the oath of office before the President,” a statement from President’s office read.
“Girish Chandra Murmu will have a tenure upto 20.11.2024,” it said.
Murmu who was earlier appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir stepped down from the post on Thursday.
Murmu took charge as the first Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in October 2019 after it was made a Union Territory.
