A close aide of the gangster Vikas Dubey was shot dead in an encounter at Moudaha in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district on Wednesday morning.
Amar Dubey, a wanted criminal, was killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force (STF).
Amar Dubey was also an accused in the Kanpur encounter case in which eight cops were killed.
According to the sources, the police team had received a tip off about Amar’s presence in the district.
Vikas Dubey, responsible for the murder of eight policemen was also seen at a hotel in Faridabad on Tuesday night, police said.
Eight policemen were killed in the encounter which broke out when police went to arrest Vikas Dubey in a village in Kanpur on July 2.
As the police party reached the Bikru village to make the arrest, criminals opened indiscriminate fire from the rooftops, leaving Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Devendra Mishra, three sub-inspectors and four constables dead, officials said.
