The bodies of Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 armed forces personnel killed in helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, were flown in from Sulur near Coimbatore last night.
General Bipin Rawat will be cremated with full military honours at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment today.
After the arrival of the bodies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and top officials of the defence services paid them tributes at Palam air base in Delhi.
Before the last rites of CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat, their bodies will be kept at his residence 3 Kamaraj Marg between 10 am and 12.30 pm today. During this, those in the forces and civilians will also be able to pay tribute to the General.
Many people including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Indian National Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and top officials of the defence services paid their tributes to the body of CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika at his residence.
Except General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier Lidder, Staff Officer Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan, Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh, Junior Warrant Officer Rana Pratap Das, Junior Warrant Officer Arakkal Pradeep, Havildar Satpal Rai, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitendra Kumar, Lance Naik Vivek Kumar and Lance Nairk B Sai Teja are on board have died in the unfortunate accident.
