Fourth batch of 53 Indians stranded in Iran arrives in India: S Jaishankar

Fourth batch of 53 Indians stranded in coronavirus-hit Iran has arrived in India, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Monday.

Out of the 53 Indians, 52 are students and one is a teacher. With this, a total number of Indians returned to India from Iran are 389.

“Fourth batch of 53 Indians – 52 students and a teacher – has arrived from Tehran and Shiraz, #Iran. With this, a total of 389 Indians have returned to India from Iran. Thank the efforts of the team @India_in_Iran and Iranian authorities,” Jaishankar said in a tweet.

On Sunday, another batch of 234 Indians stranded in Iran had arrived in India. These included 131 students and 103 pilgrims.

“234 Indians stranded in #Iran have arrived in India; including 131 students and 103 pilgrims. Thank you, Ambassador, @dhamugaddam and @India_in_Iran team for your efforts. Thank Iranian authorities,” Jaishankar had tweeted.

Iran is one of the worst coronavirus-hit countries outside China.
