Four people were killed in Delhi on Monday after a violence broke out between two groups one supporting and the other against the Citizenship law. Section 144 has been imposed in northeast Delhi. Schools will remain closed on Tuesday.
According to the reports so far, dozens of vehicles have been burnt and many buildings have been set on fire.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has appealed to people not to commit violence. Rahul Gandhi wrote in the tweet – “The violence today in Delhi is disturbing & must be unequivocally condemned. Peaceful protests are a sign of a healthy democracy, but violence can never be justified. I urge the citizens of Delhi to show restraint, compassion & understanding no matter what the provocation.”
According to the reports so far, one police head constable and three civilians have died in Monday’s violence. Many people are admitted to hospitals in critical condition while two more police officers have been injured.
The car market in Gokulpuri has also been set on fire. There are six fire extinguishers engaged in extinguishing the fire.
