Senior AIADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Assembly speaker PH Pandian passed away on Saturday morning due to prolonged disease. He was 74.
Pandian breathed his last at Ramachandra Hospital in Tamil Nadu.
Pandian had served as the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1989.
He was one of the only two candidates who got elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislature from the Janaki Ramachandran Faction of AIADMK in 1989, when he won the Cheranmahadevi seat, but later joined hands with Jayalalithaa.
In 1999, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Tirunelveli Parliamentary constituency.
Pandian was one of the two senior AIADMK leaders who had opposed Sasikala Natarajan after the death of Jayalalithaa.
