Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal returns Padam Vibhushan award to protest betrayal of farmers

Former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Parkash Singh Badal returned his Padma Vibhushan to protest “the betrayal of the farmers by govt of India”

This came months after the SAD quit the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over the then farm bills.

Meanwhile, farmers’ representatives today began another round of discussions with the Centre. The last meeting between the two sides had failed to break the impasse on Tuesday.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh met Home Minister Amit Shah in a separate meeting and appealed to both Centre and farmers to quickly resolve deadlock over Farm Laws.

“CM @capt_amarinder meets @HMOIndia @AmitShah, appeals to both Centre & #farmers to quickly resolve deadlock over #FarmLaws as state’s economy & national security getting adversely impacted by prolonged stalemate,” Raveen Thukral, Media Advisor to Punjab CM tweeted.

Thousands of farmers have been protesting against the new farm laws. The agitation has now entered the eighth day.
