The government officials and farmer union leaders will meet today for the seventh round of talks to end the ongoing stalemate between them over the three farm laws passed by Parliament in September 2019.
The protesting farmers have already made it clear that if their demands are not met, they will intensify their agitation by holding a tractor march on January 6 and also on January 26.
This will be the seventh meeting between the government and protesting farmers. The two sides have, so far, held six rounds of talks.
A day ahead of crucial talks with the protesting farmers, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for discussions.
Thousands of farmers mainly from Punjab and Haryana have been protesting since November 26, demanding the repeal of three farm laws.
