‘Excellent Press Conference’: Rahul Gandhi mocks PM Modi’s first press meet

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Friday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not taking any questions at his first press conference.

“Congratulations Modi Ji. Excellent Press Conference! Showing up is half the battle. Next time Mr Shah may even allow you to answer a couple of questions. Well done!” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Congress leader Ahmed Patel said in a tweet that Modi has lowered the dignity of the prime minister’s office.

“Never seen a press conference where someone else is answering questions on your behalf. There was no need to lower the dignity of the office of the prime minister just to prove a point,” Patel tweeted.

Modi, along with Amit Shah, held a press conference at the BJP headquarters a first for the Prime Minister since taking office five years ago.

PM Modi asserted that the BJP will return with full majority.

“It has not happened for a long time in the country that a government returns to power with absolute majority for second consecutive time,” Modi Said.

During the press conference, PM Modi spoke about the election campaign but did not answer any question posed to him. Amit Shah answered them instead.

Modi told reporters that he will not take questions as in BJP’s system, discipline has to be followed, ‘in our party, president is everything’.

BJP president Amit Shah took questions from the media and said, “I have answered your question. It is not necessary for the PM to answer every question.”

Campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections has ended today. Voting in the last phase will take place on May 19 and the results will be declared on May 23.
