Eight terrorists killed in separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir

Eight terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir in two separate gunfights during the last 24 hours.

Three terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Meej Pampore area of Awantipora in South Kashmir.

The encounter between security forces and terrorists started on Thursday.

One terrorist was killed on Thursday in a gunfight, following which two other terrorists had taken refuge inside a mosque.

IGP Kashmir Zone said, “Patience and professionalism worked. No use of firing or IED. Used tear smoke shells only. Maintained the sanctity of the mosque. Both militants hiding inside the mosque have been neutralised.”

In a separate encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, five terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces.

The operation is currently underway.

Chinar Corps Indian Army tweeted, “Op Bandapoh (#Shopian). Update. One more terrorist eliminated (Total Five terrorists killed). Joint Operation in progress.”
