Eight killed in blast at chemical factory near Mumbai

At least eight persons were killed and several others were injured on Saturday in a massive blast at a chemical factory at Boisar in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, nearly 100 km from Mumbai, officials said.

The police and the fire service officials were rushed to the spot and launched a search and rescue operation.

The under-construction plant of Ank Pharma is located in a Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area at Kolwade village.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
