Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin on Friday said that his party will never align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Alliance under him is not a healthy alliance, he added.
Stalin statement came a day after Prime Minister Modi had hinted at the saffron party’s willingness to make new allies. “BJP’s doors are always open for parties,” Modi said.
Modi gave this statement when a question was asked whether the BJP would form an alliance with DMK, AIADMK or Actor-turned-politician Rajnikanth in Tamil Nadu.
In December 2018, at the event of unveiling a life-size statue of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi at party’s headquarters in Chennai. Stalin had proposed Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s name for the post of Prime Minister and had said that the Congress chief had the potential to defeat the fascist Modi government.
