Delhi Police arrested nine persons in the murder of two people by a mob near a busy market in north Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area on 27 November evening.
“So far we have arrested nine men, including the main suspect, Nikhil Sharma, who owns a motorcycle showroom in Shalimar Bagh. All the attackers are in their early 20s,” said Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) northwest region.
Police said that the accused were arrested from different hideouts.
The prime accused, Sharma, along with the other accused, stabbed his neighbour Tanish Kwatra, 23, following a heated argument over a day-old road rage incident, police said.
DCP Khan further said, “At the time of the incident, another person Pawan, 21, also suffered stab wounds. Later, both were declared dead in a hospital.”
Eyewitnesses claimed that the mob comprised at least 25 persons. DCP, however, put the number at 15 but said that the figure could raise based on revelations being made by the arrested people.
Accused will be produced before a city court today only.
