The death toll in the fire at the government-run ESIC Kamgar hospital in Mumbai’s Andheri on Tuesday rose to eight, with two more persons succumbing to injuries overnight, civic officials said.
A six-month-old baby girl was among the deceased.
According to officials of Disaster Management Unit of BMC “176 persons, including three firemen, are now being treated in city hospitals, more than 25 are in critical condition while 26 have been discharged after primary treatment.”
On Monday, level four fire, which is defined as a major incident, was reported from the (ESIC) Hospital. Fire officials have blamed the hospital for not ensuring a fire audit.
