COVID-19 cases in India rise to 4,73,105; Death toll at 14,894

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 4,73,105 as it recorded 16,922 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 14,894 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

There are 1,86,514 active cases while 2,71,696 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,42,900 with 6,739 fatalities.

Delhi has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 70,390 with 2,365 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu – 67,468 cases and 866 deaths, Gujarat – 28,943 cases and 1,735 fatalities.

A total of 75,60,782 samples have been tested so far of which 2,07,871 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
