Coronavirus: 30 states, UTs under complete lockdown

To contain the spread of coronavirus, thirty states and Union Territories declared a complete lockdown as number of cases in the country rose to 492.

According to the Health Ministry, the country recorded its ninth death as West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh confirmed one fatality each due to the COVID-disease.

30 states and UTs covering 548 districts. have announced a complete lockdown, partial curbs have been declared in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. 

Only two states -Sikkim and Mizoram in the country that have not imposed any restrictions, the government said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lamented that people are not taking the lockdown in the country seriously.

He had appealed to the people to save their family members and themselves by strictly adhering to the directions being given by the State and Central Governments.

He also requested the State Governments to make people adhere to the lockdown.
