Flight operations from the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) airport, which was closed since past few days due to incessant flooding in Kerala will resume its operations on August 29.
As per the sources, “Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is all set to commence full-scale operations (both international and domestic) at 2 PM on August 29”.
The torrential rains had left the runway, taxi bay and other areas of domestic as well as international terminals under water.
The airport officials had extended the date to resume operations from August 26 to August 29 after most stakeholders, including airlines and ground handling agencies, expressed concern over mobilising manpower by that date.
According to the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on a Facebook post on Monday, “Intimation regarding the readiness of the airport has been given to all airlines to make sure the smooth functioning of the services as per schedule.”
It also added, “Services from Naval-base will be suspended from 29th August noon.”
The Airline’s websites have already started to facilitate the journey planner for passengers on or after August 29.
Kerala witnessed the worst ever flood situation in a century that has claimed lives of more than 300 people and caused widespread destruction in the state.
