Congress is likely to announce the name of the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister on Saturday.
Congress party president Rahul Gandhi met the contenders for chief ministership in the national capital on Friday. The contenders are state party chief Bhupesh Baghel, Ambikarpur MLA T.S. Singh Deo, Lok Sabha MP Tamradhwaj Sahu and Charan Das Mahant. Bhagel and Deo are in the race for the top job in the state.
The meeting of the Chhattisgarh leaders with Rahul Gandhi at his residence followed that of Ashok Gehlot who was named as the new Rajasthan Chief Minister and Sachin Pilot as his deputy.
Congress ended the BJP’s rule for 15 years in Chhattisgarh in the recently concluded Assembly elections by winning 68 of the 90 seats.
