A blast was heard on Thursday from vacant land behind the magistrates’ court in the town of Pugoda, 40 km east of the capital Colombo, police said.
According to the police, they were investigating the blasts, which came at a time of high tension in Sri Lanka after the Easter Sunday suicide bomber attacks on the island state that killed over 300 people and wounded about 500.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
More details are awaited.
