BJP’s attack on me is a sign that BJP is losing in UP : Mamata Banerjee

“Attack on me by BJP workers when I was going to Dashash wamedh Ghat to attend the ‘Ganga Aarti’ in Varanasi indicates they are losing out power in Uttar Pradesh elections,” said the Trinamool Chief Mamata Banerjee in a rally of Samajwadi alliance on the political turf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mamata was here to extend her support to Akhilesh Yadav and appealed to dethrone “Yogi-Raj” which she termed as “Goonda-Raj” dividing the people on religious lines.

Referring to yesterday’s protests by saffron workers shouting slogans “Mamata Go back” showing her black flags, she got down of the car and challenged them that “she is not scared of such cowardly acts.” “I am a fighter and many times CPM people beaten me. Attacked me firing bullets and batons but I never bow downed,”she told amid overenthusiastic responsive workers.

Alleging that the BJP disrespect women, she asked why can’t she go to Varanasi, Mathura, Azamgarh, Lakhimpur or Allahabad? “You all come to Ganga Sagar in West Bengal, ask your people there howwell they all are treated. The UP government disrespected young boys and girls in the name of ‘anti-Romeosquad’. Where were these BJP people when people died walking to their home during Covid?” asked Mamata. “We provided respectful last rites of the floating bodies came to Ganga Sagar from UP,” she remarked.

Mamata said the BJP incite temple issue and the Hindu-Muslim debate in its poll campaigns. “I don’t haveany issue with in reciting of ‘Jai Siya Ram’, but why don’t you (BJP) respect the name of Sita Mata? Instead,they say‘Jai Shri Ram’. It is ‘Jai Siya Ram’,” said Banerjee as she recited some hymns of Durga Stuti from the stage.

The Trinamool Congress supremo also attacked the BJP government over demonetization. “These people didNotebandi in the name of ‘AchheDin’ and now they are selling farming, railways, airports, banks and even lifeinsurance in the name of ‘AchheDin’. They even promised Rs 15 lakh in your bank accounts, did they come?Unemployment is increasing, boys and girls are moving out of state in search of jobs.”

The West Bengal CM appealed to the people to vote for SP-led alliance and promised that she would attend theoath-taking ceremony of Akhilesh Yadav as the next CM of the state.

The Samajwadi alliance organised a maga show of strength in Varanasi today with its alliance partners Jayant Chaudhary of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Keshav Dev Maurya of the Mahan Dal, Krishna Patel of the Apna Dal (Kameravadi), Shivpal Yadav of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party, Sanjay Chauhan of the Janwadi Party (Socialist) and the leaders of the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party.
