A Banaras Hindu University (BHU) student who was shot at by unidentified assailants in front of his hostel in the campus on Tuesday evening, succumbed to his injuries, the police said on Wednesday.
Gaurav Singh, pursuing his masters in the university was standing outside his hostel with friends when motorcycle-borne accused came and opened fire at him, police added.
Gaurav sustained bullet injuries in his stomach and was rushed to the Trauma Centre. He later died in the hospital.
Police have arrested four people in connection with the incident. However, the massive manhunt is going on.
