Bhagwant Mann to take charge as AAP’s Punjab chief on January 30

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmaker and Sangrur Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann will take over the reins of the party’s Punjab unit on January 30.

Mann will be formally installed chief of Punjab at a ceremony in Chandigarh which will be attended by Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and in-charge of Punjab affairs Manish Sisodia.

Last week, Punjab unit of the AAP unanimously rejected the Mann’s resignation which he tendered following party supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to former Akali Dal minister.

Mann had announced his resignation as party’s Punjab chief in March 2018 a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal apologised to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia for having levelled “unfounded” allegations.

Among others who are likely to be a part of installation ceremony include, Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), members of state Core Committee, state executive committee and officials from various wings.
