Assam has recorded its first COVID-19 death on Friday with a 65-year-old man passing away in the state.
The man hailing from Hailakandi district breathed his last at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Assam.
State’s health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet said, “With utmost Grief and sorrow,I would like to inform that Sri Faijul Haque Barbhyan,(65)Hailakandi District has expired few minutes back in SMCH due to complication of COVID19 infection.My deep condolences and prayers for the bereaved family.”
According to the sources, the deceased had travelled to Saudi Arabia recently.
So far, Assam has reported 29 COVID-19 positive cases.
