In a joint operation conducted by Assam Rifles of the Indian Army and Jairampur police, nine cadres of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) [NDFB (S)] were arrested on Sunday night from the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.
As per the reports, the group was busted while infiltrating into India from their training camp in Myanmar. All nine cadres were nabbed in an ambush on their infiltration route.
According to the sources, the authorities had intelligence picked up on the ground that a group of terrorists after completing training in Myanmar would attempt to cross over to India in order to carry out subversive activities.
The Operation also resulted in the recovery of arms and ammunition including AK 47 and AK 56. The cadres along with seized items were handed over to police.
