A boat carrying atleast 45 passengers capsized in the Brahmaputra river in Assam on Wednesday.
Several passengers are reported to be missing and nearly 12 people swam out to safety.
According to the reports, there were about 45 people on the boat including some children and women.
The boat was carrying passengers to Madhyam Khanda in North Guwahati from Guwahati.
The Brahmaputra is in spate due to monsoon rains in the upper reaches of Arunachal Pradesh.
Police and a team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have rushed to the spot and are conducting rescue operations.
