The Supreme Court on October 9 sent three directors of Amrapali group to police custody for not submitting accounts-related documents of the embattled real estate major’s 46 group companies to forensic auditors.
The apex court bench, comprising justices Arun Mishra and U U Lalit said, “You are playing hide and seek. You are trying to mislead the court.”
The bench ordered that the three directors named Anil Kumar Sharma, Shiv Priya and Ajay Kumar– will remain in police custody till they hand over all the related documents.
“It is a blatant violation of the orders passed by this court” and “If you fail to give any documents, you will not come out of this (custody),” Justice Mishra said.
The bench also directed Delhi and Uttar Pradesh police to seize all necessary documents and asked the directors to furnish the papers to the auditors within 24 hours.
The SC’s order came on a batch of pleas filed by home buyers who are seeking possession of nearly 42,000 flats.
