Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh resigned after the Bombay High Court direction to CBI investigation into the extortion allegation levelled against him by former police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
NCP leader Nawab Malik said, “After the Bombay High Court ordered CBI probe on the letter of former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, Deshmukh expressed a desire to step down.” Deshmukh offered the resignation letter to NCP supremo Sharad Pawar who gave consent. Later, Deshmukh submitted his resignation letter to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.
In his resignation letter, Deshmukh has said it won’t be morally appropriate to remain on the post and continue as a Home Minister after the High court’s order.
