Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute tweeted Monday, reassure to resolve the issue of Covishield-vaccinated Indians face problems with travel to the European Union as per EU’s new ‘vaccine passport’ scheme.
He said the matter is being taken up at the highest levels, hoping to resolve this matter soon.
“I realise that a lot of Indians who have taken COVISHIELD are facing issues with travel to the E.U., I assure everyone, I have taken this up at the highest levels and hope to resolve this matter soon, both with regulators and at a diplomatic level with countries,”he said in a tweet.
Covishield, a Covid-19 vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India hasn’t been permitted by European Medicines Agency.
According to the rules, the travelers who have taken the Covishield, manufactured by Pune-based SII won’t be eligible for the European Union ‘Green Pass’.
So far, only 4 vaccines; Comirnaty (Pfizer), COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen, Spikevax and AstraZeneca’s Vaxzevria have been approved by the regulatory authority.
