A massive fire consumed seven houseboats on Nigeen Lake in Kashmir on Monday. Locals and police immediately rushed to the scene to fight the fire. Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately. “The fire started in the night around 2.30 am one of the houseboats in Nigeen Lake and quickly spread to others in the neighbourhood,” police said.
Later, Police and local residents immediately started a firefighting operation, but the blaze could not be controlled before it consumed seven houseboats..

“There are no reports of any injury to any person in this incident so far,” the officials said adding that the houseboats are luxury floating lodgings made of Deodar.
The houseboats destroyed in the fire incident have been identified as ‘New Jersey’, ‘New Maharaja Palace’, ‘India Palace’, ‘Royal Paradise’, ‘Lily of World’, ‘Young Swift’ and ‘Flora’.
