647 coronavirus cases in last two days linked to Tablighi Jamaat: Health Ministry

At least 647 coronavirus positive cases recorded in the last two days are linked to Tablighi Jamaat congregation held in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

“647 confirmed coronavirus cases found in 48 hours are linked to Tablighi Jamaat congregation,” said Lav Agarwal, a Health Ministry Joint Secretary.

These cases have been reported from 14 states/ Union Territories.

Agarwal said total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country are 2301 and 56 people have lost their lives due to infection

157 patients have recovered/cured, the ministry confirmed.

At the same briefing, Punya Salila Srivastava, joint secretary in the Home Ministry said that the states have been asked to take strict action in cases of security incidents on healthcare professionals and frontline workers, and to ensure safety of medical fraternity.
