Three soldiers and civilian sustained minor injuries in a gunfight in the Malwan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
“Exact location of #encounter is #Malwah area. In the initial exchange of fire, 03 #soldiers & a civilian received minor injuries. #Operation in progress. Further details shall follow: IGP Kashmir,” read a police tweet.
A police official said the militants fired at a joint party of army, police and paramilitary forces as they were approaching the hiding place of the militants following a tip off.
There was no immediate official word on the number of militants trapped in the area.
The injured security personnel and the civilian have been removed to the hospital
