2G mobile internet services restored in Kashmir, except in Pulwama, Shopian

2G Mobile internet services were restored in the Kashmir Valley, except in Pulwama and Shopian districts. The order came hours after the Supreme Court ruled out immediate restoration of 4G mobile data services in Jammu and Kashmir.

The internet was suspended in Kashmir after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo.

The Supreme Court on Monday passed an order to set up a high-powered committee to look into the contentions raised by various petitioners for the restoration of 4G services in Jammu and Kashmir.

All internet services were suspended in Jammu and Kashmir in August last year after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

The internet services have since been restored in a phased manner, but high-speed internet continues to remain suspended in the valley.
