Two army soldiers were killed in an encounter with Pakistani infiltrators along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera sector of Rajouri district on Wednesday, officials said.

The security forces had detected some terrorists trying to sneak in from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), using the forest cover at Khari Thrayat.

As the search operation was launched, the infiltrators opened fire on the troops and during a fierce gunfight the two soldiers were killed, official said.

“Two army soldiers martyred during cordon and search operation in Nowshera sector,” an official added.

The search operation was launched following information about the presence of terrorists in Nowshera on Tuesday.

The operation is still in progress.
