Zero tolerance strategy against drugs means Maharashtra Police is excellent – C M Fadanvis

“Maharashtra Police has a good image in the country. To make this image higher and to brighten the reputation, there should be an added performance. The performance of Maharashtra Police in the last five years has been excellent. The government stands firm with the support of the police department” said C M Devendra Fadanvis.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a two-day conference of senior police officers at the state policeheadquarters.

Minister of State for Home (Rural) Deepak Kesarkar, Minister of State for Home (Cities) Dr. Ranjit Patil, Principal Secretary Ajoy Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, Sanjay Kumar, Director General of Police Subodh Kumar Jaiswal were present on the dias.

Chief Minister further said that the state police force is the only one in the country which have great potential. So, looking at the experience of the last few years, the police team has done a great job of avoiding many unpleasant incidents due to their alertness. Police department has proven that many things can be achieved through healthy communication.

Now the duty is to maintain law and order and to serve. Therefore, we have to act as a servant, not a ruler. Accepting this change, people’s orientation has to be increased. It is important to note that many things can be achieved by interacting with the citizens and
representatives of the people. Fellow workers will have to be motivated to give their best performance by good behavior and good communication. In the last five years, the decentralization of police rights has been take place. With this right, police department got the big responsibility. Considering this, we have to use it our right properly.

“Now a day‟s crime rate is increasing rapidly. The procedure for returning the amount in minor offences will have to be created. This will build trust among ordinary people. In any case, efforts should be made not to distort the police image. That is why there is a need of
modern technology. Technology promotes transparency and enhances credibility” said Mr. Fadanvis.

Honorable Chief Minister further stated that if some of the undesirable elements of the society will try to take advantage of the upcoming festivals and elections to ruin atmosphere, then they should be punished. To celebrate upcoming festivals in peace, there is a need of communication with various element of the society and try to build trust among the people about security measures. There are several schemes are being implemented for the welfare of the police. The government stands firmly to support the police who work in adverse and challenging conditions. Therefore, prompt and positive decisions have been taken from time to time on proposals for improvement and welfare of this force. More and more funds have been made available for this.
