The mother and sister of the JKLF supremo Yasin Malik on Saturday said that he has been shifted to hospital after being taken seriously ill following the hunger strike against his shifting to Tihar jail.
Earlier this month the National Investigation Agency arrested Malik in connection with a case related to the funding of terror and separatist groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at their Maisuma residence, the sister and mother of Malik said that their lawyer had told them that the JKLF chief has been shifted to a hospital.
“The authorities were forced to tell his lawyer that Yasin Malik’s condition is very serious and he is on a hunger strike for the past twelve days,” sister Abida told media. “His (Yasin Malik’s) demand is that he was shifted to Tihar jail on illegal remand”.
Following the press conference, the shopkeepers in his locality Maisuma downed their shutters in protest against the Malik’s plight.
The NIA registered a case on May 30, 2017 against separatist leaders, who have been acting in connivance with active militants of militant organisations.
