With record single-day spike of 86,432 new cases, India’s COVID-19 tally rise to 40.23 lakh

India has reported a record single-day spike of 86,432 new cases of coronavirus and 1089 deaths in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 tally in the country now stands at 40,23,179, while the death toll rose to 69,561, according to Health Ministry data.

Of the total cases, 31,07,223 have been cured/discharged/migrated. There are 8,46,395 active cases of COVID-19 in India.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients stands at 77.2%.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said over 4.77 crore samples have been tested up to September 4 of which 10,59,346 samples were tested yesterday.
