With over 47,000 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, India’s tally surges past 14.83 lakh; Death toll at 33,425

The number of coronavirus cases in India have surged past 14.83 lakh with a single day spike of 47,704 cases. Of the total 1,483,157 cases, 4,96,988 are active while 9,52,743 people have been cured/discharged, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

A total of 33,425 coronavirus patients have lost their lives.

The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients further improved to 63.92 per cent, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country, followed by Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Tuesday said a total of 1,73,34,885 samples have been tested up to July 27 of which 5,28,082 samples were tested yesterday.
