With nearly 70,000 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, India’s tally crosses 28 lakh-mark

India has reported 69,652 fresh cases of coronavirus and 977 deaths in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 tally in the country now stands at 28,36,926, while the death toll rose to 53,866, according to Health Ministry data.

Of the total cases, 20,96,665 have been cured/discharged/migrated. There are 6,86,395 active cases of COVID-19 in India.

The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients stands at 73.64%.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Thursday said a total of 3,26,61,252 samples have been tested up to August 19 of which 9,18,470 samples were tested yesterday.
