With 45,720 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, India’s tally past 12 lakh; Death toll at 29,861

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 12,38,635 as it recorded 45,720 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 29,861 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

There are 4,26,167 active cases while 7,82,606 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 3,37,607 with 12,556 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,86,492 with 3,144 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,26,323 and 3,719 deaths, Karnataka – 75,833 with 1,519 deaths, Andhra Pradesh – 64,713 and 823 deaths, Uttar Pradesh – 55,588 and 1,263 deaths and Gujarat – 51,399 and 2,224 fatalities.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Thursday said a total of 1,50,75,369 samples have been tested up to July 22 of which 3,50,823 samples were tested yesterday.
