Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scripted cricket history on Thursday by becoming the youngest player ever to score a half-century in international cricket. The 15-year-old reached his maiden international fifty in just 19 balls during the first T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare.
At 15 years and 118 days, Sooryavanshi surpassed all previous records for the youngest international half-centurion. His explosive innings featured four boundaries and four sixes, helping India comfortably chase Zimbabwe’s target of 126 with seven wickets in hand and 40 balls to spare.
The milestone adds another remarkable chapter to the teenager’s rapid rise. Earlier this year, Sooryavanshi starred in the ICC Under-19 World Cup and has continued to break age-related batting records since making his international debut.
India captain Shreyas Iyer praised the youngster after the match, highlighting his confidence and familiarity with the Harare conditions following his outstanding performances at the Under-19 level.
