Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in the country in terms of meeting electricity demand, surpassing major states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, according to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
UPPCL Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goel said the state has consistently maintained the top position in power supply despite rising demand and challenging weather conditions. He attributed the achievement to continuous improvements in the state’s power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure.
According to official figures, Uttar Pradesh supplied 31,949 MW of electricity on June 27, 31,839 MW on June 26 and 31,852 MW on June 25. On June 24, the state achieved its highest-ever peak power supply of 32,673 MW at 9:51 pm, setting a new benchmark in the country’s power sector.
Officials said that the state’s power infrastructure has undergone significant transformation in recent years, enabling it to efficiently meet rising demand during the peak summer season. The government has also focused on expanding transmission networks, strengthening distribution systems and increasing renewable energy capacity.
Dr. Goel noted that Uttar Pradesh’s performance reflects the success of ongoing reforms in the power sector and demonstrates the state’s growing capability to provide uninterrupted electricity to consumers across urban and rural areas.
The achievement comes at a time when Uttar Pradesh is rapidly transitioning from a power-deficit state to a power-surplus state, supported by major investments in conventional and green energy infrastructure.
