UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and BJP Union Minister Smriti Irani on Thursday filed their nomination from Rae Bareli and Amethi parliamentary constituencies respectively.
Sonia and Smriti embarked on a roadshow before filing papers.
Both leaders performed puja earlier in the day.
The first phase of Lok Sabha polls has begun today. Rae Bareli and Amethi will vote on May 6. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
