Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav will share the stage at a historical rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri on Friday.
It took more than two decades for both the parties to join hands once again.
SP-BSP went their separate ways in 1995 when the infamous guesthouse incident took place in Lucknow. When BSP chief was targeted by SP workers who barged into the premises and attacked BSP workers.
However, both the parties decided to come together and forge an alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati repeatedly said publicly that their alliance had a long way.
Besides Mulayam Singh Yadav, both Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati will address the rally along with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Ajit Singh.
The SP-BSP-RLD alliance is contesting on all the 80 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh with SP contesting on 37 seats while BSP on 38 and RLD on three seats.
