An Indian Air Force Jaguar fighter plane crashed on Monday in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, about 300 kilometres from the state capital Lucknow.
The incident was reported after the fighter plane took off from the Gorakhpur Air Force base.
However, the pilot managed to eject safely.
A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident.
